JAWS

contact form, form region. Your name edit required. Blank type of text. Your email edit required. Blank type of text.

Kevin

I’m just going to…

Kevin

Can I just put fake stuff in?

Gen

[email protected].

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

Yeah. It’s fine.

JAWS

Home edit. Blank type of text.

Kevin

What for phone? Any old number? Five, five. Okay.

JAWS

Your message optional edit. Blank type of text.

Kevin

This is a test.

JAWS

Favorite prime number at its min box. To set the value, use the arrow keys or type the value. What’s it?

Kevin

Oh, just- One. I guess one. Yeah. Okay. I was like, Wait, what is that?

JAWS

Dark chocolate checkbox not checked. To check, press space bar.

Kevin

I’m making a selection for something, but I don’t know what Contact Form 7 didn’t include the ability without me writing the HTML for it.

Gen

I’m treating these forms by default. What do they give me by default without me writing my own HTML code? They didn’t give me a label for the checkboxes.

Kevin

Yes. I’m sorry.

Gen

So I didn’t put a label on.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

They’re optional fields, so you can just skip past it if you don’t want to mark it, but you can mark it if you’d like to.

Kevin

I do like dark chocolate.

Gen

There you go. Just go ahead and mark it.

Kevin

I don’t know what I’m picking, but I don’t know what it’s asking me.

JAWS

Milk chocolate checkbox not checked. A semi-sweet chocolate checkbox not checked.

Kevin

Checkboxes.

Kevin

So presumably there’s multiple things to pick from, but…

JAWS

Bananas radio button checked.

Gen

It’s so much better on the next form when there’s context.

Kevin

Yeah.

JAWS

Combo box. Bananas radio button checked. Pineapple radio button checked. Change the select bananas combo box.

Kevin

Okay. Sure.

JAWS

Address, edit, blank, type, and text.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

One, two, three, Main Street.

Kevin

There we go.

JAWS

Date, time, edit, month, edit, spin box, zero. To enter value use the

Gen

So this is just testing for a date type entry box because lots of forms nowadays ask for either an absolute date, like when I was getting my dog a bath.

Gen

The groomer wanted to know when was her vaccination date, or they might want to know a relative date, like when would you like to book the appointment. If available, I put in both an absolute and a relative date box, but this one only had one date box, so it’s just a date box.

Kevin

Okay.

JAWS

Day edit spin box.

Kevin

I see. I can just pick.

JAWS

Day edit spin box. Yea edit spin box, 2024. Show date picker button menu, press space.

Kevin

Do we want to test the date picker?

Gen

Try, yeah. See if the date picker works for you.

JAWS

Seven columns and six rows, Thursday, September 26.

Kevin

Oh, it’s the 25th. I don’t even know the day’s date.

JAWS

Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, selected column 4.

Gen

It did actually select. Can you confirm? Exit

JAWS

show date picker button menu, press space, activate the menu, then navigate with arrow keys.

Kevin

It did not tell me that anything selected.

JAWS

Here is a spin box. They have a spin box 25.

Kevin

I mean, you can check it, but it doesn’t tell you it actually confirmed.

Gen

Yeah.

JAWS

Year edit spin box. No date picker. Website edited. Blank type and text.

Gen

So this is just testing a URL field.

Kevin

And that’s not required, right? It doesn’t say required or anything.

Gen

It is not required.

Kevin

Okay. Just do easy a11y or example.com.

Gen

You can leave it white if you want. Okay.

JAWS

I can send to the checkbox not checked. To check press space bar.

Kevin

I consent to the checkbox, yes.

Gen

Oh, so as a visual person, I see, I consent to the privacy policy, which is a link to the privacy policy.

JAWS

Privacy policy link.

Gen

I see. You did not hear with the checkbox that it was going to privacy policy.

JAWS

I consent to the checkbox not checked. To check press space bar.

Gen

That’s bad.

Kevin

I think you have to select. It actually doesn’t tell you if it’s required. I would imagine it’s required.

Gen

I don’t remember if I actually made it required on this form. Most of them had an actual GDPR box or a Terms and Conditions box that I could add to the form, which would automatically put it in as required. I was trying to keep everything as defaulty without fixing stuff, because the novice user is just going to click Install, throw in what’s there by default, and go.

JAWS

All right, go ahead and see what happens. There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.

Kevin

Okay, that’s helpful. Not.

Gen

Yes. One of the issues with contact form 7 is the lack of useful messages.

Kevin

Yeah

Kevin

I assume things are highlighted it in red, maybe, but-

Gen

Let me see if one of the other forms will submit.

Kevin

I guess you’d have to go back through and check everything.

Gen

Yeah, just hold on a sec. I’m going to try submitting. Yeah, the other forms are submitting. I did not configure email SMTP for this website because, again, I wanted to see how well these forms did without help. So the other forms are submitting and storing their submissions, even though email is not available.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

So we can go on to the next form. There you go. That’s the start of the form.

JAWS

Skip the content same page link. Banner region, fluid forms, main region, contact form, demo group, first name, edit, blank, placeholder, first name, type of text.

Kevin

All right.

Gen

So we got multiple first names being read off. What they actually coded in the HTML is they put a Aria label in addition to the visual label. So there’s a visual label marked up inside a label, and it says first name. And then they also put an Aria label on that same label.

Kevin

Where’s the placeholder coming from? Is that also –

Gen

And then they put a placeholder on the input field.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

So it’s first name, first name, first name.

Kevin

You really know it’s your first name. Okay.

Gen

Yes.

JAWS

Last name. Last name edited land, placeholder, last name type of text.

Kevin

I assume it’s similar?

Gen

Yeah.

Kevin

I guess I’ll just… Sure

JAWS

Email required

Kevin

What did we do?

Gen

So now we’re seeing all of your email addresses.

Kevin

What did I put last time? I can’t remember. Was it just example?

Gen

Yeah, you just put a test email in there.

Kevin

Test@temp. Com.

JAWS

Mobile/mobiledit. Land. Placeholder. Mobile number. Type and text, has popup.

Gen

Wow.

Gen

Okay, that was a lot. It’s also showing a popup of a string of all five. Oh, but that’s because we just filled it in on the last one.

Kevin

Is it trying to auto?

Gen

It’s trying to autofill.

Gen

Yes, that’s what it looks like.

Kevin

And I don’t actually know that’s happening. I don’t see. So should I… Is it there?

Gen

It’s visible to me. Try the down arrow.

Gen

It autofilled it.

Gen

But it didn’t tell you anything about it. No. Not entirely certain where that came from.

Kevin

No.

Gen

Because it’s not showing the markup for autocomplete.

Kevin

There’s an ARIA attribute, right? For autocomplete?

Gen

Yes.

Kevin

I remember correctly. Should I just use this? Should I just press Enter?

Gen

Yeah, go ahead.

JAWS

Continue with that. Okay. Your message editor requires blank placeholder. Your message type and text.

Kevin

This is a test.

JAWS

Favorite prime number at its min box to set the value. Dark chocolate checkbox not checked. To check press space bar.

Gen

So did it read off the favorite types of chocolate? I didn’t catch it.

JAWS

Dark chocolate checkbox not checked. To check press space bar. No.

Kevin

All I did was press tab.

Gen

Oh, so it didn’t read off the label. There’s a visible label, favorite types of chocolate.

Kevin

I wonder.. Do you think that could be a Jaws thing, too, though, or no? If there’s an actual label there, it shouldn’t be.

Gen

No, because the label’s not for the inputs. So there’s a label.

Kevin

Oh, like visual?

Gen

It’s just a visual label.

Kevin

Oh, okay.

Gen

Well, that’s why. It’s not attached via code.

Kevin

Oh, that’s why. It’s not like label four equals.

Gen

It’s not a programmatic label.

Kevin

Got it. So that’s expected if it’s the code of that. Yeah, okay. I wasn’t sure.

Gen

It’s a WCAG issue, yes. .

Kevin

Yes. I wasn’t sure if that was a Jaws thing.

Gen

Nope, it’s a WCAG.

JAWS

Checked. Milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate checkbox, not checked. Checked. Bananas radio button, not checked.

Gen

Again, we have a visual label, but it is not programmatically attached to the inputs, so you aren’t getting the information.

Kevin

This is just straight out of the box, right? For this.

JAWS

Banana radio button checked. Favorite grain combo box select-and-dash to change the selection used the arrow keys.

Kevin

Oh, interesting.

Gen

You’ve got a label this time.

JAWS

Oats. Weed. Oats. Weed. Oats. Address line 1, edited. Blank. Placeholder. Address line one type of text.

Gen

Yeah, again, we have the constantly repeated inputs because it’s a visual label, an Aria label, and a placeholder. So you get that. So all of these are optional. You can just tab through city and state.

JAWS

State edit plan, placeholder state, zip code edit plan, country combo box, select country to change.

Kevin

That also sounds optional.

Gen

Yes.

Gen

But go ahead and try the select country. See if you can get to United States.

JAWS

Ukraine, United, Alabama, United King, United States, US. Zip, country, combo box, United States, US to change this.

Kevin

That looks good.

Gen

Excellent. All right, so now we have the Date fields. This is going to be the first one is the Date absolute.

Gen

Did it read that?

Kevin

It does, but you don’t know the format or anything that it wants.

Gen

Yes.

Gen

The problem here is that a couple of versions ago, limit forms switched from having a visual description area, so like helper text or a field.

Kevin

Described by, yeah.

Gen

Yeah. They used to have the label, and then there would be another optional field that you could stick in below it with things like how the heck to format it. They switched that, and they’ve now made it a tool tip, and that tool tip is not keyboard accessible. I’m not surprised that your screen reader can’t find it either.

Kevin

Is there a… Oh, wait.

JAWS

I’m read-only edited.

Gen

You can just skip that field because you don’t know how to fill it out.

Kevin

This one looks bad, too.

Kevin

That’s a mouse thing.

Kevin

You got it. There’s no keyboard.

Gen

Yeah. Okay. Can you get out of tab to the next field.

JAWS

Website edited language type of text.

Kevin

The read-only thing you have to use your mouse. I think I’ve seen that before on a few websites before.

JAWS

Terms and conditions, checkbox not checked. To check press space bar.

Kevin

Oh, well.

Gen

Oh, wait. What did it say?

Kevin

So it said Terms and conditions, checkbox not checked. It just said Terms and condition.

Gen

But that’s not what it visually says.

JAWS

Website. We have- Website edited. Terms and conditions, checkbox not checked. To check, press space bar.

Gen

Yeah. For me as a visual person, this is showing… I’m looking at the code. It’s got an Aria label of terms and conditions, but then it has a span class that’s attached to that for an input field that’s a checkbox input field, and that’s attached to the label with the Aria on it. But then separately in a div is I have read and agreed to the terms and conditions, which is a link, and privacy policy, which is also a link.

Kevin

But it’s just in a div.

Gen

You’re not getting that as a screen reader user.

Kevin

Right.

Gen

Okay.

JAWS

Terms and conditions link.

Kevin

That’s a link.

JAWS

Privacy policy link.

Gen

That’s a link. It’s not required.

Kevin

Okay. Can we try submit it?

Gen

It’s asking you to check it before you are able to know what you’re checking.

Kevin

Yes.

Gen

Yeah, go ahead and submit. See how this goes.

JAWS

Submit form button to activate. Press Enter. Fluid forms and-forms. EasyA11y. Com document.

Gen

It’s submitted and it’s presenting a visual message that says, Thank you for your message. We will get in touch with you shortly. But it’s not telling you as a screen reader user any of that.

Kevin

It just basically read out the document title. I assume focus, like it refreshed.

Gen

Its focus got lost.

Kevin

Is there a heading for that?

JAWS

Fluid forms, thank you for your

Kevin

I mean, you can… But it’s not clear that that’s what’s happening. Your focus just gets lost, and you have to hunt.

Gen

Correct.

Gen

All right. Ready to go to the next one?

Kevin

Yeah.

JAWS

Skip to content saved. Formidable. Main region. Contact us. Group name edit required. Land type of text.

Gen

It’s telling you that this is the name field, but there’s a visual label that says first that goes with this field. But you can’t see it. It’s also below the field, which means that if you have an autocomplete setup, the autocomplete  would cover the label.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

But the bigger issue is that you’re not getting the information that this is the first.

Kevin

I would have done the full name here.

Gen

Yeah, because you’re not getting… It’s a div, it’s a description, it’s not programmatically associated with anything. Yeah.

Kevin

Yeah. So should I do it right or should I do it how I would do it?

Gen

How you would do it because…

Kevin

All right.

JAWS

Edit required to plan type of text.

Kevin

No idea what this is, but it’s required, so that sucked.

Gen

Yes. So what happened is in the code, I’m seeing the label is for the field that is the first name, and there is no label. There’s an empty label for the field that’s the last name.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

Yeah, that’s not going well.

Kevin

No, that’s bad.

Gen

Try leaving it blank and continuing. See what happens?

JAWS

e-mail edit required. Blank type and text.

Kevin

Is that… Well, it says email.

Gen

Yeah.

Kevin

Is that correct or no? I don’t think-

Gen

It’s listed as an Aria Required True. So let’s keep going through the form and see what happens.

Kevin

All right. I’ll just do it as if I wasn’t the wiser.

JAWS

Home edit, blank type and text.

Kevin

Okay. 5, 5, 5, 5, 5.

JAWS

Message required. Message, edit.

Kevin

This is a test.

JAWS

Favorite prime number at its bin box. Blank. The set of L. One. Favorite types of chocolate proof. Dark chocolate checkbox not checked. To check press space bar.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

There we go. There we go. Now we have a programmatically associated.

JAWS

Checked. Milk chocolate checkbox, not checked. Semi-fruits. Favorite fruit group, bananas radio button, not checked.

Kevin

Hey, nice.

Gen

See, it makes a whole lot more sense with the labels.

JAWS

Favorite grade combo box. Oats. To change the selection use the arrow keys. Date absolute, edit, blank type and text.

Kevin

Still don’t know the format.

Gen

So there is a visual label for me that shows month, month, day, day, year, year, year, year. But of course, that doesn’t show for you. So type whatever you want.

Kevin

September 25th, 2024.

JAWS

Website edited. Blank type and text. Privacy proof. I agree to the privacy policy checkbox not checked. To check press space bar.

Kevin

Hey, look at this.

Gen

It read the whole thing.

Kevin

Nice.

Gen

It’s a minor miracle.

JAWS

Checked. Privacy. Submit button to active. Alert. The data absolute is invalid.

Kevin

So then your focus-

JAWS

September 25th.

Kevin

Well, that’s helpful to know it’s invalid. It doesn’t tell me what the hell I’m supposed to type into it, but

Gen

That’s the problem, yes.

Gen

The data is invalid. Okay, what’s wrong with it?

Kevin

Yeah.

Gen

Okay. Anyway, we- Try typing the correct date. The month is going to be 09/25/2024.

JAWS

Website. Privacy. Submit button. Privacy. I agree to the privacy policy check box checked. Right. Submit. Formidable and dashboard alert. There was a problem with your submission. Errors are marked below. Alert. Last cannot be blank.

Kevin

Last cannot be blank. So am I on?

Gen

Unfortunately, there’s one.

Kevin

So you end up figuring out after the second time that last, which is weird because last comes first before the date. So why didn’t it tell me about that first anyway? Or maybe it did, and I just didn’t see it.

Kevin

You know what I mean?

Gen

Yeah, we weren’t notified of it.

Kevin

Yeah. All right. Andrews.

JAWS

Email edit. Favorite crime, where contact us group. Submit button unavailable. Formidable. N-forms. EasyA11yguide. Com. Formidable. N-forms. EasyA11yguide. Com. Formidable. Full same page links. Formidable. Your responses were successfully submitted. It’s submitted.

Kevin

Thank you. Yeah. I had basically loaded a new page. It went to the heading.

Gen

Correct. It reloaded the page and then went through.

Kevin

Not great.

JAWS

First name, star edit required. Blank placeholder E. G. John type and text.

Kevin

Okay. Nice.

JAWS

E-mail address, star required.

Kevin

We have no last name.

JAWS

E-mail address, star edit required. Invalid entry. Blank placeholder E. John.

Gen

I put it in the default form.

JAWS

Banner, main region. E-mail address star edit.

Kevin

You’re making sure I’m not. I’m not losing it.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

No. P-e-t-s-e-t. Com.

JAWS

Phone number. E-phone number, edit. Blank. Placeholder. E. G. +1300-400-500 type of text.

Kevin

Do I actually have to write it like that? I’m not writing it like that. Who writes like that?

Gen

Yeah, I’m like, That’s also painful to hear.

JAWS

Message edited, planned placeholder. Enter your message. Type and text.

Kevin

That’s not required.

JAWS

Favorite prime number. Favorite prime number. It’s been box to set the value. Favorite types of chocolate proof. Dark chocolate checkbox not checked.

Kevin

I just like chocolate.

JAWS

Favorite from Oats combo to change this.

Kevin

None of these are actually required, are they? I’ve been very committed to this form.

JAWS

Street address, edited plan placeholder.

Kevin

I guess.

Kevin

Okay. I’m just going to.

JAWS

Apartment, suite, et cetera, edited plan. Type and cool. City, edited plan. State, slash, province, edited plan. Place, zip, slash, postal code, edited plan. Select country combo box.

Gen

Try the country combo box.

JAWS

Ukraine.

JAWS

United Kingdom, US Minor Outline, United States of America, USA. Month, edit spin box to set the value, use the arrow keys or type the value.

Kevin

I don’t know what that’s about. Is that Earth Date, current date? I don’t know.

Gen

It’s a month and it’s a spin box it said.

Kevin

Right. I don’t know what date am I answering. That’s a rhetorical question. I don’t know.

Gen

Like I said, I tried to pull up if I could get an absolute date. So if you were entering-

JAWS

Zero nine.

Kevin

Yeah.

Gen

When your dog was vaccinated and then the date when you want an appointment.

Kevin

Okay.

JAWS

Edit spin box. Date relative It’s here. Date relative, plan, placeholder, choose date type of text.

Kevin

Choose.

Gen

It’s a big combo box thing.

Kevin

Sounds like an edit.

Gen

Yeah, it’s the calendar pop-up JavaScript box.

Kevin

Can I use arrow keys?

Kevin

Nope.

Gen

We’re just going to mark that as inaccessible and go to the next field.

JAWS

Website, plan, placeholder, e. G.http/consentstarcheckbox. Checkrequired. The check press space bar.

Kevin

Well, consenting to something, but don’t know what, which is required.

Gen

Yeah, and there’s a big long statement with two links in it, and you don’t know what you’re consenting to.

Kevin

I’m not filling it out.

JAWS

Terms and consent message button. Privacy policy link. Terms and conditions link, send message button to active-

Kevin

Try.

Gen

Yeah, try. Don’t have to. Don’t have to. Don’t have to.

JAWS

Main region. Donate circle. Thank you for contacting us. We will be in touch shortly.

Kevin

I mean…

JAWS

Formulator and dashboard

Kevin

That’s helpful.

Kevin

I don’t know what dotted circle. Yes. I don’t know what dotted circle means, but that’s what it kept saying.

JAWS

Same page form, first name, start.

Kevin

Great.

Gen

Okay. Yeah. So it submitted the form. It gave you the message. The message disappeared after a short period of time, and then you had a blank form again.

Kevin

Sounds like a toast.

Gen

Yeah. We have high expectations for Gravity.

JAWS

Gravity.

Kevin

Okay.

JAWS

Main region, your name required group. First edit required blank type of text required as popup.

Kevin

Wow, very required. All right.

JAWS

Required. Last edit required blank type of text required as popup.

Gen

It’s very required. You know it’s your last name?

Kevin

Yes.

JAWS

Your email address required group, email address edit required, blank type and text.

Gen

Really wants your email address.

JAWS

Com. Confirm email address editor required. Blank type and text required as popup.

Kevin

It’s so wordy. I think partly that it’s Jaws.

Kevin

I’ve never…

Kevin

This That’s really funny.

JAWS

Your comments/questionsrequired.

Kevin

This is a test.

JAWS

Favorite types of chocolate proof. Dark chocolate checkbox not checked. To check, press space bar. Checked. Favorite grain combo box.

Kevin

Oh, it’s to change this.

JAWS

Your address group, stream and reset it. Blank type and text.

Gen

A little fast.

Kevin

Oh, do you want me to go back?

Gen

Yeah, just so that we can hear the screen reader on it. Okay.

Kevin

I was getting used to the-

JAWS

Your comments. Favorite types of chocolate proof. Dark chocolate checkbox checked. A clear checkmark, press space bar. Milk chocolate checkbox not checked. A checkpress space bar. Semi-sweet chocolate checkbox not checked. Favorite fruit group. Bananas radio button not checked. Bananas radio button checked. One of three. Pineapple-rate strawberries radio button not checked. Favorite grain combo box. Oats. It’s your address proof. Street address, edit, blank. Type and text. Address lines to edit, blank. City edit, blank. Zip code, edit, blank. Date absolute,

Kevin

There’s no state?

Gen

No.

Kevin

No products?

Gen

I put whatever the default was.

JAWS

Date absolute, edit, slash, slash, type and text.

Kevin

Slash, slash. Okay.

Gen

Yes. So below it, there is a visual label that is month, month, slash, day, day, slash, year, year, year, year.

Kevin

Okay.

Gen

That’s below it, which is the default location of where they put it. Again, I stuck with defaults.

Kevin

Well, it’s not required.

JAWS

Date picker, edited plan, placeholder, mm, dd, i type and text.

Gen

All right, so this is the fancy date picker. See if you can do anything with this one.

JAWS

Mm/ddi-plan.

Kevin

Trying to arrow through its-

Gen

No.

Gen

All right, next field.

JAWS

Website, edited plan, placeholder, HTTPS. Consent Required proof. I agree to the privacy policy. Checkbox not checked, required. To check press space top, check required.

Gen

Please. It actually read it.

JAWS

Submit button to activate. Press Enter.

Kevin

Hello?

JAWS

Gravity forms and-forms. EasyA11yguide. Com. Gravity forms and-gravity. Thank you for-heading level one. Gravity form. Thank you for contacting us. We will get in touch with you shortly.

Kevin

Sometimes the internet’s just slow, and I was like, Is it doing anything?

Gen

It took longer to submit than the other forms.

JAWS

In region, contact me. Form region. Name star, editor required. Blank type and text.

Kevin

Both? I guess full name is what that sounds like.

Gen

Again, I went with the default.

JAWS

What is it? Hang on.

Kevin

I think it was-

JAWS

Name star.

JAWS

Name star V. Name star I.

Kevin

What’s happening visually? Because every time I type-

JAWS

Name star.

Kevin

It’s doing stuff like that.

Gen

It’s upset because you tabbed to the email field and it’s showing a big alert on the email field. I think now that’s interfering with Jaws and causes-

Kevin

So they’re validating before I’ve even-

Gen

Correct. They’re flagging an error because you touched the email field and you left it blank. Now I think it’s causing an interference with the screen reader.

Kevin

Oops. Okay.

JAWS

Email star as it’s required in valid entry has pop-up blank type of text. This is a required field. Submit.

Kevin

That was wordy and weird.

Gen

Because they’ve already put up an error message. Yes.

JAWS

E-mail star, please enter a valid email address.

Kevin

It’s very mad at me.

JAWS

E-mail E-mail star, O, submit.

Kevin

Oh, good Lord.

JAWS

E-mail star, M, required.

Kevin

It’s freaking out.

Kevin

Okay, well, that was not intentional. I was just like, Wait, what?

Gen

No, whatever they’re doing to validate is not intended.

Kevin

Because I was trying to see if there was a last name field, and then it freaking out. So, oh, well.

JAWS

Message star, edit, required. Blank type of text.

Kevin

This.

JAWS

Message text. Message star, E. Message star, period.

Kevin

I think it’s doing it for every field, actually.

Gen

Oh, God, that’s annoying.

JAWS

Favorite prime number at its bin box. Blank at one. Favorite prime number, one.

Kevin

Sure.

JAWS

List with three items. Dark chocolate checkbox not checked. To check press space bar.

Kevin

Oh, well.

Gen

Check the dark chocolate again.

JAWS

More chocolate. Semi-sweet chocolate check. List with three items. Bananas radio button not checked.

Gen

Wait, it didn’t read the label.

Kevin

Right. It didn’t read it for dark chocolate either.

Gen

Yeah, but it didn’t read the Favorite Fruit, which is the label before bananas.

Kevin

Right. It didn’t read it for either one.

Gen

They have just a whole bunch of divs and spans. The Favorite Fruit, which is a visual label, is just divs and spans.

JAWS

Favorite Grain Combo box. Oats. Change the selection.

Kevin

But they got that. Okay.

Gen

Yeah, because it’s a different type of field.

JAWS

Address, edited, blank. Type and text has popup. Address, to, edited, blank. Type and text has popup. City edited land type of text has popup.

Gen

It keeps reading out that it has popup, and it’s trying to populate things with the popup, because I can see the popup is Washington. See if you can select the state.

JAWS

Delaware. Florida. West Virginia. Wisconsin, Wyoming. Washington, DC.

Kevin

Okay. Sometimes they’ll do district or Columbia. Yeah.

JAWS

Okay. Washington, DC.

Gen

Okay. That worked.

JAWS

Type a text as pop-up. Mm slash mm slash d-d slash y-y-y-y.

Kevin

What? Actually, I think my focus is lost. I don’t even know where I’m at. It went boop.

Gen

I tried to put helper information onto this date absolute to tell you what format to use. It has it apparently skipped reading the date absolute and went straight to the month, month, day, day, year, year, year.

Kevin

Yes. So just keep on going.

Gen

Keep going.

JAWS

Date absolute. M-m-d-d-y-y-y-y-edit. Blank type and text

Kevin

Wait, so this is the field here?

Gen

Yes, you are now on the actual field.

Kevin

Okay. It requires two tab presses to get to it.

Gen

It’s because they put a tool tip in. Tool tips are not your friends.

Kevin

Right. Okay.

JAWS

Date absolute. M-m-slash-d-d-slash-y. Date absolute.

Kevin

It’s going to…So did it actually.

JAWS

 date absolute. M-m-slash-d-d-slash-y-y-edit-0-9-slash-25-slash-2020.

Kevin

Jesus, that’s painful for me to listen to.

JAWS

Date-slash-time-relative-edit-blank-type-a-text.

Kevin

Date-slash-time?

Gen

I put whatever was the default.

Kevin

I know. I’m just confused every time I hear stuff.

Gen

So this is the big JavaScript pop-up.  I don’t know if you can-

Kevin

No. It just goes out of it.

JAWS

Website text field. Edited. Blank type of text.

Kevin

Okay. We’re to have the type of input in the label, but all right.

Gen

It is actually in the label, yes.

Kevin

Website text field. Let me just say website. Anyway, okay.

Gen

I couldn’t actually find a URL field for Ninja Forms, so I put it as a text field.

JAWS

Privacy policy.

Kevin

Oh, like an actual text field, not as a URL.

Gen

I see. Okay. I couldn’t find an actual URL field. I couldn’t find input type equals URL, which was one of the basic input types. I would have expected it.

Kevin

Privacy policy. Okay. It’s a link.

JAWS

I consent to the privacy policy star check box not check required in valid entry.

Kevin

I do like the privacy policy as first. It’s a minor thing, but I do like that that’s first.

Gen

Yes, so that you have an opportunity to read the privacy policy before going to the privacy policy and accepting it.

JAWS

Submit button to activate. Press Enter. Ninjaforms and dash forms. EasyA11y.  com. Document processing. Contact me. Form submitted successfully. A. Confirmation email was sent to testattempt. Com. Main region. Contact me. Form-

Kevin

Cool. That was pleasant.

Kevin

That part.

Gen

You actually knew that it got submitted and it was accepted and it sent you confirmation and everything.

Kevin

And the message doesn’t seem to disappear. Somehow I missed it. I like that. That’s good. Keep that in mind. All right. Anyway.

JAWS

First name, star editor requires blank type of text.

Kevin

Cool.

JAWS

Last name, edit, blank type of text.

Kevin

But last name is not required?

Gen

Apparently, it’s not. Leave it blank.

JAWS

E-r-d-a. E-mails, star editor requires blank type of text.

Kevin

E?

JAWS

Phone. Emails, phone edit, blank type of text.

Kevin

Jaws does weird stuff like that.

JAWS

I don’t know. Your inquiry star editor requires blank type of text. 6, 9 characters/4 words. 10 characters.

Kevin

That was very jarring.

JAWS

11 characters, 4 words. 12 characters/4 words. 13 Characters, 14, 15.

Gen

Let me explain what it’s doing. It has a little counter at the bottom, which tells you how many characters have been typed and how many words have been typed. It is apparently put Aria on so that all of that gets announced.

Kevin

It sounds like Aria, like assertive type deal, like every time it gets an input.

Gen

Trying I’m trying to read through the arias. It’s got a lot of arias. Yeah, I’m not seeing it. We’re using JavaScript.

Kevin

What did they do?

Gen

Very helpful.

Kevin

What did they do?

Gen

I’m not entirely certain because I don’t see arias to announce any of this.

JAWS

Favorite prime number at its mid box. Bland. To set the value, use the arrow. Dark chocolate checkbox not checked. To check press space bar.

Kevin

No, label’s not read.

Gen

No. Not programmatically associated is what I’m going to guess.

JAWS

Milk chocolate check. Sweet chocolate checkbox, not checked. To check press-

Kevin

You want me a Hold off or keep going.

Gen

Yeah, it’s not programmatically associated, so that’s why it’s not being read.

Kevin

Okay.

JAWS

Bananas radio button not checked.

Kevin

Same here.

Gen

Yeah, same issue.

JAWS

Favorite grain combo box. Select… To change the

Gen

Okay.

JAWS

Address line one, edit, blank, type and text. Address line two, edit, blank, type and text. City, edit, blank, type and text. State combo box, select… To change the selection.

Kevin

Try anyway.

JAWS

Delaware, district of Columbia.

Gen

There we go.

JAWS

Zip code, edit, blank, type and text. Date absolute, edited, slash, slash type and text.

Kevin

I don’t know why is this funny to me. It’s predictable.

JAWS

Website, edited plan, type and text.

Kevin

Oh, there’s no relative date?

Gen

No, there wasn’t a relative date maker.

JAWS

I consent to forms. EasyA11yGuide. Com, storing my submitted information so they can respond to my inquiry star checkbox not checked, required and valid entry to check press space bar.

Kevin

Sure.

JAWS

Check required.

Gen

To propose.

JAWS

Click Consent Link. Submit button to activate press Enter. Ws alert error sending email could not initiate mail function.

Kevin

All right.

Gen

Okay, so it read off an error, but that’s not actually being displayed on the screen.

Kevin

So it’s almost more accessible for me?

Gen

Yes. So it scrolled all the way to the top, and I don’t see any visual errors. It scrolled all the way to the top when you clicked submit, and I don’t see any issues.

Kevin

Oh. Well.

Gen

So that’s great.

Kevin

Yes. It’s actually very fascinating to me. I didn’t realize. I didn’t know there were all these plugins available.
